Why is it that people find it so easy to say just move out and live on your own?
Q. Hello everyone. First let me start by saying that I am 27 years old in graduate school about to recieve my MBA. I frequently come to yahoo answers to get peoples opionions on things. So it seems anything I see a question concerning people living at home, responders say well you need to move out. Do people think it is that easy just to move out on your own, there are many different factors such as how much you make, what your debt to income ratio is and most importantly how much bills you currently have. All these are vital factors when moving out, especially someone like me who lives in Los Angeles, California where the cost of living is so high, I know nothing compared to new york. A. I don't think anyone thinks or said that it is easy. It is not. But it is something that everyone (mostly everyone anyway) has to do sooner or later. It you don't ever want to leave home, that's okay. You will just always have to follow someone else's rules the rest of your life. You will leave home if and when you are ready to. Just to make you feel a little better, my sister is 41 and still lives with mom, but that is another story...

Live in NW Arkansas - What type of grass seed can I use that is like a fine bladed grass that can stand heat?
Q. Another responder said a fine, tall turf fescue. I thought fescue had a tendency to clump. This is rocky soil and I plan to top dress the area so there is some dirt for the seed to germinate. I am already killing the weeds. How early in late summer, or early fall can I actually plant the seed.

A. I live in NE Oklahoma, so not too far from you, and the yards around here are primarily bermuda. It is a hearty grass, stays green even in this nasty heat, and you can't seem to kill it no matter how hard I try. It has a tendency to creep into flower beds, so keep that in mind.

Can you recommend a neighborhood in Capitol Hill to live?
Q. In my last question, I asked about nieghborly communities in Northern Virginia. One responder recommended Capitol Hill. I'm moving to DC area soon. I've heard Capitol Hill is spotty in areas. What blocks or streets would you recommend I look at?
Asked by Ovosok - Sun May 4 08:56:49 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Actually, Capitol Hill IS a neighborhood. And generally a good one. The closer to the Capitol itself, and the closer to Capitol Street east, the better. Very specifically, there is a triangle formed by the Capitol, Pennsylvania Avenue to the south, and Massachusetts Avenue to the north, as far out as where they meet at Lincoln Part. That's the best (and by far the most expensive) area of Capitol Hill. The Penn Quarter recommendation is good, but it's not capitol hill - it's, well, Penn Quarter.

I live near Elgin, TX. My cats brought in what appears to be a rat with a hamster tail! WHAT IS IT??
Q. I live in a wooded area near a wet-weather creek. The cats are finding these "hamster rats" outside, and I had never seen one before last week. They have the exact same features as rats, i.e., same size, same ears, same face, same feet, same brown/gray hair, etc. The only difference is the tail, which is basically a hairy stump, exactly like a hamster. (The cats did not bite off the tails; I saw one freshly killed.) Responders to a similar question suggested a type of shrew or vole. But, this is neither. Its head, face, eyes, and ears look exactly like a rat! I have researched this extensively and can find absolutely no documentation of any animal living in the wild that looks like this! LDS. Did Christs original Apostles build churches, and temples for God to live in?
Q. This question stems, in part, from this statement made by a current and long time member. "It is the same organization that Christ set up through his Apostles prior to his Death and Resurrection. Any one who says differently has not prayed and asked God." ... OK,... I had another responder tell me that the original Apostles preached the gospel through word of mouth during their individual travels, but did not build structures either for members to congregate, or for God to live in. As a non member looking at this, the Mormon practice of going door to door seems to emulate the responders claim that original apostles did the same thing. If that is true, then why are there now churches and temples for God to live in ? If original Apostles did… [cont.]

Look at revelation- he is talking to the churches at the various cities- They might have had less money and didnt buy structures, but the congregations existed. The site also talks about how they kept the more sacred doctrines from people until they were ready. Maybe you can get in contact with the guy who wrote it and get some citations and other info. How do you get work as a courtroom sketch artist?
Q. I saw one other answer on here and a responder said to contact local news station in order to find work, but that seems like a difficult way to find jobs. I never see this kind of thing on job boards so where do I look? Also, of anyone does this is the pay good enough that you can live off it alone or are they just small freelance jobs? I have a background (degree +work experience) in Illustration and Animation and can draw quickly and always wanted to try this. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it! Can a woman be too trusting? Male responders only please.?
Q. As many would probably agree, trust is perhaps the most important element in any relationship (romantic or platonic). With that said, guys, do you think that women can sometimes be a bit too trusting of you? Yes, I know that sounds a bit ridiculous--I mean, hey, you can never have too much trust--but I am very serious. Q. I know that most people ask questions because they have a problem and are looking for help. homeland security. are we ready for another attack in our soil? is FEMA ready? first responders?
Q. How safe are we from preventing another unthinkable attack? are we ready for biological attack? dirty bomb going off? do you trust the government or do we have an attitude of oh well, what can you do about it, if its going to happen, then so be it..? we need to be more vigilant, and knock on every door living in our neighborhood and at least know who is living in your street...we gotta defend our country and people.

A. I know this isn't a real popular notion currently, but we should all be prepared for our selves and immediate families. Do not wait for the Government to do it. That is one of the big problems our country has, waiting for someone else to take care of them. Being prepared doesn't have to cost alot. Water and food for your family for a week. Meds, blankets etc. If you can have a longer supply ready that is even better. Being a good neighbor to your neighbors is also a very good idea. We may not prevent an attack but you are ultimately responsible for your own well being and your families well being. Skip a night at the bar or a movie out and use that money for bottled water and store-able foods. The government has never been able to care… [cont.]

How long does it take for a Bipolar person to live a better life?
Q. I'm a quick responder to meds, thus it takes me about a week before I see some form of results. In the past I was always in denial thinking I didn't need my medication, so I wouldn't take it for longer than 2 weeks. But, here I am ready for a change in my life, I have finally accepted my sickness. My question is, I will like to know how long will it take before I see a real turnaround in my life sticking to my meds? I heard that I might become the antithesis of who I am now. P.S. A. Meds take 6-8 weeks at full dose to have full response...and even after that tweaking is often needed. Bipolar is a constant game of tweaking meds, changing meds, dosages and such. You can find the meds that work well, and 6 months, or 6 years suddenly they dont and you need to change things. And meds are not the whole of changing to live a better life. They are just a necessary step. Healthy routine (especially sleep schedule), coping techniques are needed to to help stay balanced. And therapy is a huge part of treatment. You may find that once meds do have you mostly stable that there are a lot of learned behaviors and thought processes that you have to deal with, that are not symptoms of the bipolar, but came about in trying… [cont.]

A. You have to go through his site or try his tv programme address. He receives so many emails and letters, and he has people sorting the mail, so he will not see every single letter that gets sent to him.

Immigrants sending money to Mexico-Fact or Fiction?
Q. I have been seeing all over the net and from other places that supposividly "...Mexico's President Fox refuses to help the Mexican "Exodus" to the US because the 2nd largest form of Mexican national income, is from US living and working immigrants sending money back home." My question is: "Is this true and if not who started it?" If any one can point me to the reference to show it's validity, that would also be most helpful. Please keep your racist remarks out of this discussion, as this is a grown up question for grown up responders.

A. My Mexican-American aunt still sends money back to Mexico, even though she immigrated here over 30 years ago. She grew up with a dirt floor. They had no stove, and lit a fire (everyday) to cook their food until she was 14.

Why do so many Muslims refuse to admit that Islam has major problems?
Q. Even female Muslims who live in the US and dress in modern fashions refuse to admit that there is a problem with women in the Muslim world being forced to cover up. And whenever the discussion of terrorism comes up, they always seem to just want to ignore the question. I'm sure many Muslim responders to this question are simply going to call me an idiot, out of their fear of thinking about this question. That's ok, go ahead. It will only prove your uneasiness about your own religion.

A. Dear Brother You are utterly Wrong in Telling Islam Has Major Problems. You would have been Right if you would have said Muslims have Major Problems. Please donot blame the Religion of Islam. Islam has changed the History and life of people in this world. All the other Religions were revived and revised after Islam brought by Muhammad peace be on him. Read the History, which Religion brought Equal rights to Humanity irrespective of color and creed. Which religion has enforced the Property rights and distibution among the family members where even women have a share. Which Religion has given Rights to Women in marriage and divorce. Which Religion has framed the Rules of War and stopped killing of women, children and aged. Which… [cont.]

what is fair in america?
Q. does anyone think it is a little strange that law enforcement, first responders, EMT's and fire fighters, go out everyday to risk our lives so that others may live. but only make a very low salary...some deputy's are at 25k a year. yet, a major league baseball player can walk up to a plate and swing a bat 3-4 times a week and gross millions of dollars a year? how can any person see this as fair? why doesn't the government do something for those of us who bust our tails, working crazy hours and training for hours on end? what is fair in America?
