Since the heroes I remember on 9/11 were firefighters and other emergency responders, what did Giuliani do?
Q. This is not a partisan question because I don't like Democrats or Republicans. In my opinion, all of them seem to be selling us down the river. I live a thousand miles away from NYC, and Giuliani never caught my attention on that awful day of death and grief. I really need to understand what it was that made Rudy so heroic, as many claim, on that day. Just exactly what did he do that was so far beyond the ordinary call of duty?

Can you recommend a neighborhood in Capitol Hill to live?
Q. In my last question, I asked about nieghborly communities in Northern Virginia. One responder recommended Capitol Hill. I'm moving to DC area soon. I've heard Capitol Hill is spotty in areas. What blocks or streets would you recommend I look at?
Asked by Ovosok - Sun May 4 08:56:49 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Actually, Capitol Hill IS a neighborhood. And generally a good one. The closer to the Capitol itself, and the closer to Capitol Street east, the better. Very specifically, there is a triangle formed by the Capitol, Pennsylvania Avenue to the south, and Massachusetts Avenue to the north, as far out as where they meet at Lincoln Part. That's the best (and by far the most expensive) area of Capitol Hill. The Penn Quarter recommendation is good, but it's not capitol hill - it's, well, Penn Quarter.

Every agency passes the buck. Where is a responsible source to report CHILD ABUSE in Michigan?
Q. The abusers live in Illinois. The crime occurred in Michigan. Between these two states, every agency offloads and says, "Call THEM!" no..."Call Them!" It's called an Interstate Cluster F-you-know-what! Do any good Yahoo! Answers responders know how to cut throug the red tape so I can report blatant child abuse in Michigan and get someone who won't pass the buck?
Asked by John S. - Mon Dec 29 20:45:33 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The way it should work, key word "Should": The jurisdiction where the crime allegedly occurred has the responsibility to investigate the crime. Where I work, the Police department run a criminal investigation at the same time Child Protective Services ran a child welfare investigation. Read Michigan's statute on "Child Abuse", confirm the incident meets the definition, and go from there. Good luck.

Asked by Carrie - Sat Sep 19 21:35:05 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Take EMT classes at your community college. There's three levels: basic, intermediate, and paramedic(most advanced) I know it takes 3 classes to certify as basic, and 3 more to certify as intermediate at my local community college. I dont know about paramedic yet. I know enlisting as a 68w in the army certifies a soldier as an emt through training.

Q. I see that several responders have whole-heartedly recommended Dave Ramsey's program. I went to his website and am now overwhelmed! I am seriously in debt, constantly juggling just to make it from one paycheck to the next. I work full time 6 days a week, parttime 3 days a week and am exhausted. Where do I begin? With the classes or can I do one of the comprehensive home study programs? I already feel like I don't live at my house, just sleep there. Do I have to attend classes or can I do it on my own?

A. You asked do you have to take the classes. No, but I do suggest you buy The Total Money Makeover and possibly the new software to help you set up your budget (if you like doing stuff on computers). I suggest you purchase the book so you can refer back to it. If you read it in the bookstore or check it out from the library you don't have it as reference. We have been doing his plan for 1 1/2 years and I still refer back to it when we are debating with each other about what to do. Look at his specials for the best prices. (prices vary depending on his special for the week or month) I would go with The Total Money Makeover & software (if you like computers) (About $40) If you don't want to use a computer to do your budget, start with… [cont.]

A. Patience is key. Water daily. Fertilize lightly every month. It may look like it's doing nothing at the surface, but that's because it's working on producing more roots! In my experience, cutting back an unhealthy tree (as suggested above) is the worst thing you can do, as doing so would put it into even more shock.

Can a woman be too trusting? Male responders only please.?
Q. As many would probably agree, trust is perhaps the most important element in any relationship (romantic or platonic). With that said, guys, do you think that women can sometimes be a bit too trusting of you? Yes, I know that sounds a bit ridiculous--I mean, hey, you can never have too much trust--but I am very serious. I only ask because it seems that--at least in my experience--when a woman has the utmost trust in her mate, he takes it for granted. What do you think and would you prefer 1) a woman who allows you to live on your own (meaning, a woman who does not want to be the center of your universe and allows you your own time), or 2) a woman with a slight jealous streak that keeps a close eye on you? It even FASTER than my 911 on the top end (911 will run until about 145MPH, while the benz crusies effortlessly at 151-152MPH)"...I have been reading reviews of this car and it looks like an incredible ride & value...but can't seem to find one of these "gems" anywhere...are their MB clubs, Forums or MB networks where I can find a 1-owner 1993 Mercedes E-class 300? A. Hi 300CE's coupe and convertible are a bit rare and definitely sought after. They're gorgeous,. There's a PERFECT 91'coupe on ebay right now item # 300111510935. It's the lowest mileage your likely to find. (no affiliation). I know the cars very well by my trade and coincidentally I am also a Porsche 911 owner (mine is a 1983). I do have a 1994 E320 which has more power than a 300CE. Q. How safe are we from preventing another unthinkable attack? are we ready for biological attack? dirty bomb going off? do you trust the government or do we have an attitude of oh well, what can you do about it, if its going to happen, then so be it..? we need to be more vigilant, and knock on every door living in our neighborhood and at least know who is living in your street...we gotta defend our country and people.

A. I know this isn't a real popular notion currently, but we should all be prepared for our selves and immediate families. Do not wait for the Government to do it. That is one of the big problems our country has, waiting for someone else to take care of them. Being prepared doesn't have to cost alot. Water and food for your family for a week. Meds, blankets etc. If you can have a longer supply ready that is even better. Being a good neighbor to your neighbors is also a very good idea. We may not prevent an attack but you are ultimately responsible for your own well being and your families well being. Skip a night at the bar or a movie out and use that money for bottled water and store-able foods. The government has never been able to care… [cont.]

A. Apply in Toronto, there is Toronto Police, York Regional Police, Durham Regional Police, Peel Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police. You can get your ATS testing done and apply to all of the above agencies as well as ones further away (Waterloo, Hamiltion, Kingston, Barrie etc.) Toronto would be your best bet as you can join special units after 3 years. Remember your first year is all training anyway, so really it's only two years. DO NOT go to the US!!! How long does it take for a Bipolar person to live a better life?
Q. I'm a quick responder to meds, thus it takes me about a week before I see some form of results. In the past I was always in denial thinking I didn't need my medication, so I wouldn't take it for longer than 2 weeks. But, here I am ready for a change in my life, I have finally accepted my sickness. My question is, I will like to know how long will it take before I see a real turnaround in my life sticking to my meds? I heard that I might become the antithesis of who I am now. P.S. Its been 3 days now I've been back on my meds. I'm Bipolar I, I take Geodon.
Asked by I call it like I see it - Mon Feb 9 13:30:27 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Meds take 6-8 weeks at full dose to have full response...and even after that tweaking is often needed. Bipolar is a constant game of tweaking meds, changing meds, dosages and such. You can find the meds that work well, and 6 months, or 6 years suddenly they dont and you need to change things. And meds are not the whole of changing to live a better life. They are just a necessary step. Healthy routine (especially sleep schedule), coping techniques are needed to to help stay balanced. And therapy is a huge part of treatment. You may find that once meds do have you mostly stable that there are a lot of learned behaviors and thought processes that you have to deal with, that are not symptoms of the bipolar, but came about in trying… [cont.]
